Sometimes, life changes in a moment.
For us, that moment came last April while we were in Gulf Shores for my sister’s respiratory conference. What should have been an ordinary trip suddenly became one of the most frightening experiences of our lives.
My sister suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was without a heartbeat for nearly four minutes before she was brought back. She spent seven days in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, fighting her way through a critical illness.
I will never forget arriving to pick her up after the conference and seeing the ambulance and fire rescue truck. I didn’t even recognize my own sister when I saw her being taken away. Then came the phone call as the ambulance was leaving.
Everything changed that day.
But through those difficult days, something beautiful happened too. My sister and I became closer than ever.
As we spent time together and began healing from everything we had been through, we started talking about building something together—something that would bring us joy and allow us to share the things we both love.
That dream became S&S [Stitch & Sparkle sisters].
My sister is the crochet queen, creating beautiful handmade pieces with patience, creativity, and love. I found my own creative path after my career came to an unexpected end when I developed a life-threatening latex allergy.
Not knowing what the future would look like, I turned to crafting. I took classes in soap and lotion making, learned candle making, and eventually taught myself how to use my Cricut to personalize and create unique items.
What started as something to keep my hands and mind busy became something much bigger.
It became a new purpose.
Today, Stitch & Sparkle sisters is a reflection of our sisterhood, our creativity, and everything we have been through together. Every handmade piece represents the love we have for creating something special—and the love we have for sharing it with you.
We believe handmade items should feel personal. They should tell a story, bring a smile, create a memory, or simply make someone's day a little brighter.
